shabbat services
At Havurat Shalom, we have a great love for davenning (prayer). The singing is spirited, the prayer is focused, and the Torah discussions are thought provoking. Services sometimes include extra readings, discussion, meditation, and other creative additions. We read from the Torah on Shabbat mornings. Services are led by Havurah members, and members leyn the Torah portion and lead the Torah discussion.
We have services Saturdays at 10:00 AM in person. We have the Kabbalat Shabbat service Friday night on Zoom. Please see our Events Calendar (above) for both listings. Friday night services are approximately 45 minutes long; Saturday morning services are approximately two and a half hours.

davening in person during a time of covid
The Saturday morning services will be outside, in the backyard, so long as the weather prediction is for the temperature to be above 50 degrees F and no rain. Outside, masks are optional.
If the weather prediction on Friday is for Saturday to be raining or colder than 50 degrees F, services will be held inside. KN95 masks are required, and we have them to give you if you need one. We will open the windows as long as the temperature allows us to tolerate that and have air filters.
Additionally, indoor Saturday will services will also be available on Zoom the first and third Saturdays of the month.

holidays
In the past, people packed into our small building to experience Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur at Havurat Shalom, where singing and a sense of community filled the air. This year the High Holiday services were hybrid, via Zoom and in the backyard. We also celebrate other Jewish holidays throughout the year. Highlights include davenning in our Sukkah, hilarious Megillah reading and skits on Purim, and all-night Tikkun study sessions on Shavuot.
